Indian “Butter” Tofu

Oh man, I do love Indian food and one of my all time favorite dishes from my non-vegan past was Butter Chicken. That creamy, spicy sauce was all I could think about some days…it really had nothing to do with the chicken itself. If you head on over to Vegan Yack Attack you can find my guest post featuring my recipe for Vegan Indian Butter Tofu!

Review & Giveaway: PlantFusion Protein Powder

PlantFusion is my all-time favorite vegan protein powder. I discovered it a couple years ago walking by a health store in Santa Monica when they were out front demo-ing it. I tried samples of the chocolate, vanilla bean & chocolate raspberry and was immediately impressed with the flavors. I walked inside and bought a big bottle of the chocolate right then and there.

Restaurant Review: Gracias Madre WeHo

When I left San Francisco almost 3 years ago there were two major things I was going to miss: my best friend Jen and Gracias Madre, a vegan Mexican restaurant owned by the same folks that run Cafe Gratitude. The thought of leaving behind those comforting delicious meals weighed heavily on my heart, but the plethora of vegan restaurants L.A. had waiting for me helped ease the pain a bit.

Vegan Interrogated: Christine Oppenheim

Christine Oppenheim is a personal chef in Santa Monica bringing healthy plant-based foods to her clients. Restaurant Review: Satdha Thai

I am ruined for all other Thai food in Los Angeles after experiencing Satdha Plant Based Thai Kitchen in Santa Monica. This is seriously some of the best food I have ever had the pleasure of eating in my entire life, absolutely no exaggeration. Satdha is no run of the mill Thai restaurant, the dishes are inventive, beautifully presented and so full of flavor your mind will be blown upon first bite.

Goals for 2014

We’re a little over one week into 2014 and so far the year is off to a good start! I don’t do traditional resolutions, haven’t for years, because I tend to not keep them and then feel bad about myself. I prefer to reflect on the past year, try to continue the good habits and work on changing the bad.

Potato Kale Leek Soup

The last time I made soup, I had to do an intricate blender dance in order to get everything mixed together nicely. Pour half the hot soup into the blender, blend, pour into another bowl, pour the rest of the mix into the blender, blend, pour back into pot along with the first batch and then continue to cook. It felt like one of those mind puzzles from an I.Q. test and I realized then that I could definitely make good use of an immersion blender. Luckily, I got one for Christmas and I knew right away I wanted to attempt another soup.

Review: Donut Friend

It’s very rare that I get a hankering for donuts, but when the craving comes on it hits hard. The itch for sugary fried dough came on strong the other morning and in my brief insanity I almost proposed a drive to Ronald’s Donuts in Vegas to fill the need. Fortunately (or unfortunately) L.A. doesn’t have a ton of options for vegan donuts.
