Hello and welcome! I’m Kylie, the girl behind Fellowship of the Vegetable.
I’m a 40-something woman living in Southern California. I started this blog at the end of 2011 as a way to journal my journey through veganism, but over the years it has evolved into more of a place for people to come together and see how easy and fun being vegan can be.
I have always been an animal lover (kind of an understatement) and in April 2011 I decided to finally make the move to becoming vegan. I wasn’t even a vegetarian at this point but a couple of my vegan friends really inspired me to give it a try. I was the typical “I could never give up cheese” human so I knew I had to make a small goal for myself to begin with. I committed to going completely vegan for one full week figuring that would give me a good glimpse into the lifestyle. I armed myself with a week’s worth of recipes and Alicia Silverstone’s book The Kind Diet. After about 3 days I felt noticeably better. My energy was through the roof, my skin was brighter and I felt lighter mentally and physically. Then I started reading and researching. My eyes were opened to so many truths that I was not aware of about factory farms, the dairy industry and the impact of animal by-products on the human body. I was inspired and forever changed. I’ve been vegan ever since.
People seem to think that vegans have a boring diet, but I can honestly say that I have eaten some of the most delicious foods I have ever experienced in my life the past few years. My palate has changed. I can savor flavors I never knew existed before. I’m having fun experimenting in the kitchen and coming up with fun and easy recipes that anyone can enjoy.
This whole experience has truly been a fantastic journey and one I look forward to continuing for the rest of my life.
Thanks for reading and I hope you continue to follow along!
