Restaurant Review: Satdha Thai

I am ruined for all other Thai food in Los Angeles after experiencing Satdha Plant Based Thai Kitchen in Santa Monica. This is seriously some of the best food I have ever had the pleasure of eating in my entire life, absolutely no exaggeration. Satdha is no run of the mill Thai restaurant, the dishes are inventive, beautifully presented and so full of flavor your mind will be blown upon first bite.

Review: Donut Friend

It’s very rare that I get a hankering for donuts, but when the craving comes on it hits hard. The itch for sugary fried dough came on strong the other morning and in my brief insanity I almost proposed a drive to Ronald’s Donuts in Vegas to fill the need. Fortunately (or unfortunately) L.A. doesn’t have a ton of options for vegan donuts.

Vegan in BUF and ORD

As some of you know, I spent a few days in Canada/Buffalo a couple weeks ago and had pretty good luck finding an awesome health food store (Bamboo) and vegan PODs from Pizza Plant, but the airports themselves were a bit more difficult. Luckily, I was able to find food in both the Buffalo and Chicago airports.

Vegan in Buffalo, NY: Pizza Plant

Technically it was Cheektowaga, NY just outside Buffalo, but close enough. The husband and I were kind of stranded at a Best Western just outside Buffalo airport for 24 hours with no car and only a Denny’s near us for food. We couldn’t afford a taxi to downtown Buffalo so after a little internet research we found a place called Pizza Plant a few miles away that had vegan options. Hurray!

Restaurant Review: Elderberries

Fellowship of the Vegetable Elderberries Review 1

The Los Angeles vegan community likes to talk. A LOT. What do they tend to talk about most? Food, of course! So I thought I was pretty in the know about all the vegan restaurants in the area, but for some reason I had never heard of Elderberries Cafe. Vegan, Organic, and Gluten Free options abound in this quaint little place on a quieter stretch of Sunset Blvd. in Hollywood.

Fōnuts: Vegan & Gluten-Free Deliciousness

I’ve never been a huge donut fan. Every year or so I would get a craving for one of those fried rings of dough covered in milk chocolate and upon consuming, without fail, I would feel disgusting. Stomach ache, heavy, gross. It seems a year was about how long it would take me to forget the aftermath of that brief indulgence. Needless to say, I was not a donut junkie.

Video Review: Chipotle’s Tofu Sofritas

I know some vegans may not agree with me, but I have to give props to chain restaurants that offer something for vegans and markets it as such. The way I see it, if people who are toying with the idea of becoming vegan see that there are readily available options for them it may not seem so daunting. I love that Chipotle is marketing their new tofu option as vegan (and omnivore) friendly. Plus, according to their website the tofu is organic so that’s another bonus! Right now this option is only available in CA, but I bet if it’s successful it will be rolled out to other locations.
