Cookbook Corner: Viva Vegan

Some of my all time favorite foods come from the Mexican/Latin variety. I love the flavor combinations used in Latin cooking and I’m always down for spicy food, so it’s no wonder one of the very first vegan cookbooks I purchased was Viva Vegan! by Terry Hope Romero. Review: Neat Foods Mexican Mix – Street Tacos

Vegans and vegetarians have it made nowadays being that there is no shortage of meat alternatives. The most recent I’ve tried is Neat. I was sent samples of their three varieties: Original, Italian and Mexican. What’s great about Neat is it’s soy free and gluten free, made only with nuts, whole grain oats and spices! Perfect for those who want an alternative to soy-laden, overly processed products!

Restaurant Review: Gracias Madre WeHo

When I left San Francisco almost 3 years ago there were two major things I was going to miss: my best friend Jen and Gracias Madre, a vegan Mexican restaurant owned by the same folks that run Cafe Gratitude. The thought of leaving behind those comforting delicious meals weighed heavily on my heart, but the plethora of vegan restaurants L.A. had waiting for me helped ease the pain a bit.

Mexican Stuffed Peppers

Recently my husband has been into cooking (hallelujah!). I guess all I had to do was go away for a week and let him fend for himself to spark the inspiration! The other night he even went grocery shopping on his way home from work and we came up with these spicy Mexican stuffed peppers. They came out pretty awesome.
