Oh man, I do love Indian food and one of my all time favorite dishes from my non-vegan past was Butter Chicken. That creamy, spicy sauce was all I could think about some days…it really had nothing to do with the chicken itself. If you head on over to Vegan Yack Attack you can find my guest post featuring my recipe for Vegan Indian Butter Tofu!
It took some experimenting to get the sauce to taste like the dish I fell in love with and I am so happy with how this version turned out. Garam masala has become one of my top five favorite spice blends. Toasted and ground black and white peppercorns, cloves, cinnamon, black and white cumin seeds, black, brown, and green cardamom pods combine to make a spicy and aromatic flavor that is common in North Indian cooking. Now that I have a jar of this stuff I can’t wait to play with it more!
But for now, make sure you go to Vegan Yack Attack and grab my recipe for Indian Butter Tofu! While you’re there be sure to check out Jackie’s frickin amazing food and photographs – she is seriously a rock star when it comes to vegan cooking!
