Chocolate Hazelnut Banana Baklava

I have never used phyllo dough before in my life. To be honest, it has always kind of scared me in a way that had me shying away while secretly wishing to play with it. I’ve heard all the phyllo dough horror stories and didn’t want to be one of those sad, sad victims of dessert nightmares. It kept nagging at me though and when I saw the pretty little box of it at Trader Joe’s I threw it in the cart.

Potato Zucchini Corn Fritters

My first attempt at making fritters! I admit, I was calling these fritters in my head the entire time I was making them with no actual idea what a fritter was, technically. It just felt right. So before I posted this I Googled “fritter” and hot damn! I was right! It must be some inherent knowledge passed through my Southern blood line.

Curried Lentils Over Jasmine Rice

I’ve decided to keep up with my current curry kick and bring you another recipe featuring my favorite spice. This time I’m going for curried lentils. I found this recipe on Wikihow and based my recipe off of it, only tweaking it slightly. I fell in love with lentils about 4 years ago when my stepmother Maria made a huge pot of lentil soup for Christmas. That soup is still one of the best I’ve had, ever. Now I’m sure I had lentils before that point, but they obviously didn’t make a huge impact on me because I can’t remember them before that moment.
