There has been a lot of change in my life over the past year and a half. Divorce, losing a job, moving, starting a new job, another breakup…it’s been challenging to say the least. I’m happy to report now though that I’ve come out of the other side of the tunnel and settled into the next chapter of my life. Which in a nutshell means I can start to focus on this blog again!
So here’s what’s new.
A month ago I moved to Oceanside with my guy Jason. I’m much closer to work now which means no more 2 1/2 hours spent in the car commuting everyday which translates into more time for cooking and writing – yay! Once again I have my own kitchen so I’m inspired to get in there and start making all the dishes that have been floating around in my head these past months.
Also, Jason LOVES to cook and even though he’s an omnivore he likes making vegan food for me (or trying to veganize his tried and true recipes – like his jambalaya). I’m trying to convince him to do some writing for the blog because not only is he a great cook, he’s also pretty hilarious…so maybe you’ll be hearing from him here at some point in the future…..maybe.
It’s been so much fun setting up our apartment together and having a place to go to after work that feels like home. Neither one of us has had that for awhile. We look forward to getting home to our dogs (and the new addition – more about that below), having a cocktail and just chilling. I don’t mean to say I don’t fully appreciate my mom giving me a place to live after my marriage ended and I enjoyed the quality time I got to spend with her, but her house never felt like my home. Plus, I kind of felt like a teenager again living there. She was an excellent drinking buddy though – we never did that together when I was a teenager!
One of the best parts of this new chapter is the kitten we adopted a few weeks ago! Jason is a huge cat lover (understatement of the century) and has been talking about getting one for months. I myself have wanted a cat ever since I moved out on my own close to 20 years ago so I was all for this plan. His name is Ghost, or officially Ghost Bootastic Kittymonster, esq. III (kitty law degrees are easy to come by). He has brought so much joy to our little family. The dogs were apprehensive at first but then Willow fell in love and they are the bestest of buddies now. It’s adorable to watch them play and chase each other around. Henry is a bit of a harder sell, but he tolerates Ghost and is warming up to him bit by bit everyday.
Sooo….things are good.
I am happy.
Life is full of things to be grateful for.
